Vehicle Spotlight on GMC Terrain

We certainly spend a lot of time in our cars: commuting to and from work, attending family functions, and shuttling the children around for school, sports, and lessons. Some of us enjoy that time because we are in vehicles like the GMC Terrain, which caters to what drivers require most.

It’s important to figure out exactly what makes the drive better when we’re choosing our next new ride. Chances are that GMC Terrain might check some of those boxes.

What Makes GMC Terrain So Great?

When we think of daily driving, the first thing that comes to mind is a car. Cars are typically more fuel-efficient and easier to maneuver in parking lots and busy roads. While those statements are true, they don’t always tell the whole story.

Cars can be cramped, with insufficient leg room for the driver. Some have very little trunk space, forcing you to choose between carpooling and bringing your belongings with you. Cars are smaller, making them less safe to drive in bad weather. These are some reasons why more and more people are abandoning automobiles, and we see an increase in the number of SUVs on the road. The GMC Terrain has been a popular SUV choice for years.

An SUV may not be your first choice for daily driving, but the Terrain fills the role surprisingly well! Here are some of the characteristics of the 2022 GMC Terrain SLT that make it an excellent commuter vehicle:

The Perks We All Want

To get the leg room and space you want in a car, you better be willing to spend a small fortune on a luxury brand. This is where compact SUVs like the Terrain come in; they combine the benefits of an SUV and a car into one incredible vehicle. The Terrain will not make you or your passengers feel as if they are being crammed into a can of sardines.

Numerous small storage cubbies scattered throughout the Terrain allow you to keep items out of the way without making them impossible to grab. Steering wheel controls are another interior convenience found in the Terrain. You don’t have to take your eyes off the road to answer a phone call or change the music after just a little practice with where the buttons are on the steering wheel.

Making Navigation Easier

GMC Terrains also come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is great because it allows you to save money on a navigation system by displaying your phone’s map application on your infotainment screen. Alexa capabilities are also available to make your drive even more accessible.

With the Terrain, you can program your Amazon Alexa to start, stop, lock, and unlock it, which is helpful for cold nights and hot days. Controlling your car from home or work means a more comfortable ride home without sitting in a freezing or boiling car while it acclimates.

Some Fun Features

An attractive feature on the Terrain is the ability to customize the interior color. Gray and black are options, but grey is recommended for practical reasons. Gray will hide stains better and keep you cooler in the summer.

Another popular feature is the Terrain’s push-button shifter. The clunky lever in the middle of your vehicle’s center console can now disappear. You can now use a smooth button to move your car between park, drive, and reverse. This is fantastic because it opens up the already spacious interior even more.

A Safe Haven

No matter how far we travel, we want to know that we will arrive safely! The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave the Terrain a 5 Star rating, with some features that give it an advantage on the road. Front Pedestrian Braking and Alerts are extremely useful when navigating parking lots – often those walking nearby are not paying attention.

Forward Collision Warnings, Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking are safety other features that help compensate for the Terrain’s slightly larger size. These come in handy when the cars around you are darting in and out of traffic and hugging the lane lines.

Navigating traffic is not anyone’s favorite way to start or end the day. Luckily, the Terrain’s Following Distance Indicator helps you commute without getting too close to the rear bumper of the car in front of you, which takes the some of the stress out of the drive.

Some models also have a cool feature called a Head-Up Display. If you’ve never had one, they’re small projections of your gauges on your windshield that allow you to check your speed without taking your eyes off the road! Surround Vision is another option, which is helpful for parking, driving, or doing just about anything in your SUV because it allows you to see all around your vehicle!
